South Carolina school districts competing to benefit School Walk for Diabetes

Local schools in South Carolina are turning up the heat in their fund-raising competition for School Walk for Diabetes. The Ninety Six and Ware Shoals school districts are competing against each other to raise the most money for the campaign. With a goal of $10,000 in each district, students and staff are proving that anything is possible when it comes to raising money for a good cause.

At a homecoming football game, Ninety Six High School managed to raise more than $800 in one night. Student council members collected donations at the entrance gate and sold wristbands, water bottles and Fight Diabetes T-shirts. Students even passed around a donation bucket in the bleachers during the third quarter.

The schools will continue to raise money for the American Diabetes Association by selling raffle tickets for a quilt, paper links to make a chain of hope and school district T-shirts. As an incentive for the schools that raise the most money in each district, their principal will kiss a pig!

Students in these school districts are having a great time fund raising and promoting diabetes awareness—showing everyone just how fun School Walk for Diabetes can be!
